In a dramatic turn of events, Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson will remain at the club after his loan move to West Bromwich Albion fell through.
John Percy of the Telegraph has reported that: “The proposed deal for Chelsea winger Omari Hutchinson is not happening.”

An Agreement Had Been Reached
However, just hours ago, it appeared as though this move was almost certainly going to happen. West Brom had reached an agreement with Chelsea, and the player had also agreed to the move.
It is a shame as Hutchinson is a terrific young player who has impressed whenever given the opportunity. So much so in fact that Graham Potter has labelled him as a “dangerous” winger with a lot of quality. However, those opportunities have proven to be incredibly rare at Stamford Bridge, and this loan move could have been very beneficial for the 19-year-old.
Not the Only Chelsea Deal to Fall Through
As disappointed as he will be, Hutchinson wasn’t the only player to miss out on a move away from the Blues on deadline day.

Fellow winger Hakim Ziyech was at the centre of a possible high-profile move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain, only for him to also see his move collapse in agonising fashion. Chelsea are believed to be at fault, with the club reportedly failing to send the required documents on more than one occasion.
Enzo Fernandez Deal to Blame?
Chelsea eventually got their man, agreeing to a record fee for Enzo Fernandez late in the evening on deadline day. However, leaving it so late meant there was very little time left to get the deal over the line.
In fact, Nizaar Kinsella, of the Standard, has suggested that: “Chelsea’s lawyers had too much workload” desperately trying to complete that deal and Hutchinson’s and Ziyech’s moves fell through as a result.

If true, it would certainly be controversial, but ultimately, Enzo Fernandez was the club’s number one target throughout the window, and it therefore wouldn’t be surprising if he was their main focus of the night.
