Chelsea are yet to hold any discussions with Joao Felix over the possibility of making his loan deal permanent in the summer transfer window, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The Blues signed the Portugal international on loan from Atletico Madrid in January, but did not opt to include an option to buy him permanently.
Chelsea to Make Joao Felix Transfer Decision in Summer
Joao Felix Fully Focused on Chelsea
The Portuguese forward has been a pretty big hit among the club faithful since moving to Stamford Bridge last month. He’s produced a few impressive performances for them, scoring one goal in his four appearances so far – but is yet to actually win a game with the English team and is determined to change their fortunes this season.

Romano adds that despite his bright run of form, Felix is yet to hold talks with the London club over the possibility of turning this loan deal into a permanent move. He wrote for CaughtOffside: “Chelsea are happy with Joao Felix, he’s happy with Chelsea but it’s February. It’s only been 3-4 games, so any decision will be made on both player and club side between April and May, not now.
“He just wants to play and focus on football now, full focus is on Chelsea and not on other clubs.” It has been reported that Madrid will be demanding over £120 million from the Blues to permanently sell the 23-year-old forward to them in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea Struggling to Impress
Chelsea were arguably the winners of the January transfer window, having signed eight new players to bolster Graham Potter’s squad. That includes a British transfer record deal for Enzo Fernandez, as well as splurging on the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Despite that, Potter’s side have not been able to turn things around. They have only won two out of their last 11 games in all competitions. Felix, who was dubbed as an ‘extraordinary talent’ by Atletico manager Diego Simeone last month, is still looking to tap into his best form at Stamford Bridge and will aim to end the season strong to convince the club to spend big on his signing in the summer.
