Stiff Competition

Jurgen Klopp’s side are experiencing a bit of a topsy-turvy season so far, as they struggle to get back into the top-4 race – knowing that Champions League football will be pivotal to signing world-class players in the summer. Despite their situation, they are still in a strong position to sign Bellingham, as per Romano.

He also adds that alongside the Reds, Real Madrid and Manchester City are the two other clubs who are among the frontrunners in the race to sign the teenager in the summer. However, it is also stated that the Englishman has not taken any decision on his future so far.

Bellingham’s father, Mark, is the one who is handling the negotiations with other clubs over a possible summer transfer. The 19-year-old is well aware of the widespread interest in him, but he is currently focused on ending the season well with Borussia Dortmund and helping them go all the way in the Bundesliga title race – with Dortmund tied on the same points as league leaders Bayern Munich.

The teenager is hot property in Europe right now after enjoying a prolific season, both at the domestic and international levels. He scored one goal and provided an assist for England at the World Cup, making quite the impression in Qatar. The Englishman has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 30 appearances for Dortmund so far this season and was praised for his ‘special mentality’ by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola earlier this season as well.
