Manchester United have pulled out of the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, as per The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson. The English skipper was reported to be their no.1 summer transfer target, but the Manchester club will now look into other options.
Manchester United End Harry Kane Interest
The Reason Behind United Abandoning Kane Chase
The English forward is definitely one of the best strikers in the world right now and even set the record to become Spurs’ all-time record goalscorer last season, which he ended with 30 goals in the Premier League.

Jackson states that the reason behind the Red Devils ending their interest in him is because they felt it would require them to pay an unrealistic amount of money to sign him in the summer. It’s stated that Erik ten Hag – is reportedly “obsessed with Kane,” and the prospect of signing the 29-year-old, and is disappointed with the turn of events but understands that his side can’t go beyond a certain point when it comes to paying the overall package for the Englishman’s signing.
United will now look to move on to other summer targets as they aim to sign a new striker that can lead the line for them in the upcoming campaign – with Anthony Martial not exactly trustworthy because of his injury history.
Are United Making a Mistake in Dropping Kane Interest?
After the Reds suffered with goal-scoring issues all through last season, ending the 2022/23 Premier League with the third-lowest goals for any team in the top half of the table – it was clear that they need a quality goal-scorer who can contribute 20+ goals for them next season.

In that sense, someone like Kane is actually perfect to solve their problems. He has averaged 20+ goals for the last five seasons and played a major role in carrying Spurs forward all through their highs and lows. He’s proven his ability to score from anywhere in the final third, be it clinical close-range finishes or even long-range screamers. But with Tottenham reportedly asking for £100 million to let go of him, it’s clear why United have backed away and they can now look to sign a forward that is much younger than Harry and with his best years ahead.
