Arsenal to Beat Bayern Munich for Havertz

Havertz didn’t have the best of campaigns at Stamford Bridge last season, but still ended up as one of his side’s top goal-contributors in all competitions, having scored nine goals and provided an assist in 47 appearances.

Plettenberg notes that Havertz is keen to join the North London giants and that personal terms have almost been agreed. Mikel Arteta would love to have him as a part of his squad alongside Gabriel Jesus. It’s added that Bayern Munich had enquired about the conditions needed to sign the 24-year-old, but backed away after understanding that the Gunners were in close negotiations for his acquisition.

The Bundesliga side have no plans of hijacking the deal and have moved away from it. It’s also stated that the deal now hinges on the final offer from Arsenal, who will need to indicate if they’re willing to pay the large amount to sign the German forward or not.

Plettenberg also states that Arteta’s scouting network had analyzed the quality of the 24-year-old in detail, which is why Arteta is convinced that he is the perfect additional striker for his side.

With that being said, it’s quite clear that the North London side are looking to sign him to compete for the no.9 role and possibly also in other attacking areas due to his versatility. The German forward, who is rumoured to earn £310,000 a week at Chelsea, has made 139 appearances for the Blues since joining them from Bayer Leverkusen, and has scored 32 goals in the process, including the winning strike in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League final.
