Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a possible move for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman, as per Relevo’s Matteo Moretto. The Lilywhites are seemingly looking to improve their backline after struggling to keep clean sheets last season.

Spurs Want to Improve Backline With Kilman
The North London side had trouble defensively throughout the course of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign as they conceded a whopping 63 goals – more than any other team in the top half of the table. As a result, it appears that new manager Ange Postcoglou aims to improve the backline.

Moretto claims that Spurs are considering Kilman as the centre-back to sign in an attempt to strengthen their defence for next season. They have probably been impressed with his performances for Wolves over the last few years, and he actually helped his side concede fewer goals in the league than Tottenham last season.
The 26-year-old made 37 appearances in the Premier League last season in which he helped Julen Lopetegui’s side keep an impressive 11 clean sheets and grind their way to avoid relegation into the Championship. He’s been playing for Wolves for the past five years now, having joined them from Maidenhead United in 2018.
How Can Kilman Fit in a Tottenham?
Having made over 100 appearances for Wolverhampton over the last few years, Kilman is now quite the experienced campaigner in the Premier League and knows the league as well as the opponents inside out. He could add more variety to the Lilywhites’ backline, being a proactive left-footed centre-back.

The 26-year-old – who was hailed as ‘outstanding’ by Conor Coady in 2020 – has also played in a variety of different systems with Wolves and knows what it takes to play in a three-man backline, which was Spurs’ go-to-formation for the majority of the previous campaign.
Kilman, who is rumoured to earn wages of around just £15,000 a week at his current club, could be enticed by the prospect of an upgrade by moving to North London and helping Spurs maintain a better defensive record under Postecoglou.
