Two Major Pieces of Manchester United News Drop Within Minutes

Friday afternoon was a fantastic time to be a United fan.

Just after 4 pm, Matt Law reported that the Red Devils had made their third bid for Chelsea star Mason Mount. The midfielder is wanted by Erik ten Hag but it remains to be seen whether United will be able to get the deal over the line.

Fabrizio Romano reported a little later that Mount is very keen on a move to Old Trafford, and with the latest offer including better payment terms than the previous two, there is a greater chance than ever that it will be accepted.

Within half an hour of Law’s tweet, Samuel Luckhurst published a report claiming that United are now considering changing Alejandro Garnacho’s shirt number.

The Reds are now said to be thinking of giving the young attacker their coveted number seven shirt.

This would make Garnacho the first teenager to wear this number for the Red Devils since Cristiano Ronaldo, who received it in 2003.

While some feel that he deserves this upgrade, others don’t want the burden of such a powerful shirt number placed on such young shoulders.

It has been less than a year since Garnacho’s first start for United, and applying this pressure on him too early may not be the best idea. After all, many of the most recent bearers of the number seven at Old Trafford have struggled under its weight.
