Leeds United Set To Appoint Daniel Farke in Next 24 Hours

Leeds United Manager Hunt Coming to a Close

After a managerial search which started when Sam Allardyce left the club, the Whites are set to appoint a new manager. Former Norwich City and Borussia Monchengladbach manager Daniel Farke is reportedly the most likely appointment following an intensive interviewing process. Some of the other candidates in the discussion reportedly included Scott Parker and Patrick Vieira, with the German coming out on top.

Daniel Farke’s Style

The incoming manager has a relatively aggressive and possession-oriented style, focusing on holding the ball and creating chances through wide overloads. Such a tactic suits the current squad at Elland Road, as there are plenty of wing options. An emphasis on holding the ball is also ideal for lessening the club’s weakness to counter-attacks by preventing transitions.

In all likelihood the side’s lack of transfer activity is due to wanting Farke’s input on moves, helping to build tactical cohesion throughout the squad as there are players more appropriate for the style.

On our YouTube channel, Last Word on Football have released a video outlining exactly what can be expected from Farke’s Leeds in more depth:

What This Means for The 49ers’ Ownership

According to Phil Hay’s report, signing the manager is due to happen regardless of the takeover process. With pre-season training starting on Wednesday, having the squad fully understand the club’s tactics is essential to securing promotion.

49ers Enterprises are still expected to complete their purchase once the move is signed off by the EFL. There is no known public timeframe for the organisation to verify the change.
