Pedulla adds that United are ready to make a new bid for him which will be £45 million plus add-ons, which could reach the £51 million mark. It is added that Atalanta are going to ask for at least £51 million plus add-ons to consider selling their striker in the summer.
However, it is stated that the gap in valuations between the two sides is not that wide and that negotiations will continue to try and reach an agreement. Pedulla claims that Hojlund is Ten Hag’s first-choice striker target and that the Denmark international also has a move to Old Trafford on top of his thoughts despite maintaining a professional demeanour amid his transfer saga.
Where Does Hojlund Fit In at United?
United are focusing on signing the 20-year-old to fill in their void in the number nine position after they struggled for goals in the Premier League last season and scored the third-fewest goals for any team in the top half of the table.
Hojlund, who was hailed for having ‘extraordinary margins’ by Atalanta manager Gian Pieri Gasperini last season, had an eventful debut campaign for the Serie A side. He scored nine goals and provided four assists in 32 appearances in the Italian league, impressing from the number nine role.

The Danish forward is blessed with pace, which can help him fit in well at Old Trafford and fit in with Ten Hag’s fast-paced attacking style. He is a clinical goal-scorer who has the best years ahead of him, having been compared to Erling Haaland for having a similar style. That is why the Red Devils are pushing to sign him, and it remains to be seen if he can be signed anytime soon.
