Rasmus Hojlund Tells Atalanta He Wants to Leave; Personal Terms Agreed With Manchester United

United in Desperate Need of a Striker

There is no doubt about it: Manchester United desperately need to sign a striker this summer.

When Cristiano Ronaldo, who was likely causing more problems than he solved, suddenly left in November 2022, the Red Devils were left with very few options up front.

Anthony Martial was their only natural striker at the time, and his injury record made placing their main goalscoring hopes on his shoulders a risky move.

Brought in on loan during the January transfer window, Wout Weghorst was poor during his time at Old Trafford and scored no goals in 17 Premier League appearances.

The lack of a clear goalscoring threat up top had a significant effect on Erik ten Hag’s side as they scored the fewest league goals of any team to finish in the top six last season.

Now, though, having secured Mason Mount and with Andre Onana a seemingly imminent arrival, United have finally turned their attention to signing a striker.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Red Devils are preparing a bid for Hojlund, who Atalanta value at around £61 million, after agreeing personal terms with him.

David Ornstein’s report goes one step further, claiming that the Dane has already told his club that he wants to leave this summer, with United and PSG set to battle it out for his signature.
