Walker Wants Out
Plettenberg has previously reported a verbal agreement between Walker and the Bundesliga champions, which included a contract until 2025, with an option for the player to return for another year. The Citizens were rumoured to have offered the England international a two-year contract extension, however, it now seems likely that the right-back is set for a move to Germany.

Since joining Manchester City in 2017, the 33-year-old has won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, Four EFL Cups and a UEFA Champions League. He could leave on the back of a historic treble, matching Manchester United’s triumphs in the 1998/99 season.

The Frenchman would appear to be a great fit for the club, as Guardiola prefers a lineup of defenders that are comfortable in central defence but are able to play in the wide areas. The versatile player has played as a centre-back and a right-back for both Bayern Munich and the French international side.

Manchester City Faces A Mass Exit of Players
Despite coming off the back of a treble-winning season, the club has already confirmed deals for a number of players, as they look to refresh their squad. With Ilkay Gundagon off to Barcelona, and Riyadh Mahrez reportedly joining Saudi club Al Ahli, Walker joins a number of players expected to leave this summer. Fellow defender Aymeric Laporte could also be sold this summer, with his former club Athletic Bilbao apparently interested in a reunion with the centre-back.
The England international will join former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel’s side, as they look to improve on last year’s quarter-final exit in the Champions League. Walker did not feature in Pep Guardiola’s lineup for the Citizens’ 3-0 win over the Bavarians at the Etihad and came off the bench in the 88th minute of their 1-1 draw at the Allianz.
