‘Bargain’ – Leeds United Chasing ‘Rising Star’ That Potential Promotion Rivals Love

‘Done Right Now’: Fabrizio Romano Drops Huge Leeds United Update as Star’s Transfer Saga Finally Complete - Luis Sinisterra

According to SC Heerenveen journalist Sander de Vries, Leeds United are interested in signing right-back Milan van Ewijk from the Dutch side. The player has previously been described as a “rising Dutch star”, with playoff finalists Coventry City (who are sure to push for promotion again) having had bids rejected recently. He was labelled a “bargain” when discussed in a potential January move to Sporting Lisbon.

Why is Milan van Ewijk a Potential Leeds United Transfer

Van Ewijk is an intriguing prospect for clubs across Europe, with bids rejected from both Coventry City and Anderlecht. It’s easy to see why, with the wing-back having goalscoring and xG statistics in the top five percent in his position across some of the continent’s top divisions. This comes with a high rate of progressive carries, making him a perfect candidate for Daniel Farke’s expected tactical system at Elland Road.

The Dutchman suits the squad’s needs too, with relative weakness in the wide defensive positions. With Cody Drameh being tried out as a left-back in the friendly against Manchester United, there is a lot of potential for a young and dynamic pair providing both defensive structure and creativity from the wide positions.

What Will a Milan van Ewijk Transfer Cost?

SC Heerenveen will look to get as much as possible out of the deal, with a journalist stating that the club were waiting to see if he had a strong U21 Euros to “further increase market value”. With the Dutch contingent not escaping their group behind Portugal and Georgia, the Whites can hope for a reasonable cost in this window.

One factor that could increase the chances of a move are a sense of familiarity. In spite of the club’s volatility, Pascal Struijk could remain at the club and provide a friendly Dutch presence. A similar phenomenon was seen last season. Three Americans found their way to the club in the ultimately unsuccessful campaign.
