‘Midnight Tonight’: Journalist Reveals Major Update Out of Tottenham With Transfer Now in Jeopardy

‘Unlikely to Leave’: Journalist Reveals Big Update for Spurs Fans in Final Hours of Deadline Day - Eric Dier

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has been handed an ultimatum by Bayern Munich bosses to agree to sell Harry Kane by midnight, according to Jason Burt of the Telegraph. The Bundesliga champions are reportedly prepared to walk away from negotiations if their latest bid is refused.

Bayern Prepared to Pay Club-Record Fee for Harry Kane

The German club are prepared to offer a total package of around £85 million according to reports and are eager for the England captain to apply pressure on Spurs to accept a deal. This would be a record fee paid by Bayern Munich, with their previous purchase of Lucas Hernandez for £68 million from Atletico Madrid their most expensive deal to date.

Spurs boss Levy is understood to have set a price of £100 million for the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner and has thus far held firm on the expected fee in talks with Bayern’s chiefs.

The Telegraph’s report claims that both clubs are somewhat confident that a deal could be struck but Bayern’s latest ultimatum may put the transfer in jeopardy. Kane is entering the final season of his six-year-long contract and is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2024.

Spurs Hopeful that Harry Kane Could Stay

Last month, the Evening Standard reported that Kane has told Spurs that he will stay at the club for at least another season should he still be in North London by the start of their Premier League Campaign. The club is understood to be hopeful that this would grant them an opportunity to negotiate a new contract with the striker.

Despite a tough season where his side finished seventh in the league, the Tottenham star managed to score 30 goals and provide 3 assists, only missing out on the golden boot because of the incredible record of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Kane was the shining light in an otherwise dark season for the club, which was led by three different managers between August 2022 and May 2023.

New Season Begins Under Postecoglu at Brentford

With Spurs set to start their season on Sunday August 13th away at Brentford, new manager Ange Postecoglu will be eager for a resolution to the striker’s transfer saga. The former Celtic boss faces the prospect of a new campaign without the club icon. If a deal is approved for Kane to leave the club, Levy and his staff will be under huge pressure to find his replacement before the end of the transfer window.

Despite a relatively slow start to their summer dealings, it is understood that the club are close to finalising agreements for defenders Micky Van de Ven, Ashley Phillips and forward Alejo Veliz. Tottenham have been in desperate need of defensive reinforcements since loanee Clement Lenglet returned to Barcelona, and the signing of Veliz is a gamble on the young Argentinian prodigy’s potential.
