Barcelona Interest
The Italian journalist reported that the two clubs were discussing the “final details” of the deal, but nothing was sealed at the moment. Cancelo, for his part, agreed to personal terms with the reigning La Liga champions weeks ago and is waiting for the transfer to be completed.

Barcelona, according to Romano, want the Cancelo deal done by the end of the week with a “breakthrough expected soon”. Capable of playing as a fullback or a wing-back, the former Nations League winner with Portugal can create counter-attacks as well as he can stop them.
Cancelo out of Favor at Manchester City
Once a regular starter for coach Pep Guardiola, Cancelo went from Premier League champion to bench rider in very little time. Last season he was loaned to Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich, and missed out on being included in the Champions League squad that won the final.
His stint with the Bavarians began well with teammate Joshua Kimmich praising him for having “enormous quality”. He soon found himself fighting for minutes and the praise stopped coming.
It has been a well-documented fall from grace. Guardiola wanted Cancel0 to regain the form he first showed with the Citizens, but that did not happen, and it has led to the Barcelona deal that seems destined to be a safe haven for the struggling defender.
Further Details
Citing Romano’s tweet as well as one of their previous articles, Goal offered more detailed information about the structure of the potential deal. The defender will be loaned to the Spanish outfit, who also have the option to buy him on a permanent deal when the loan is complete.
As also stated by Romano, the loan fee and salary price tag are two situations that are separating the two clubs. But, with the current injury to Ronald Araujo, Barcelona might have to meet the English side’s asking price.
Latest
A new report was provided indicating that a deal was due in “just matter of time.” All parties appear prepared to complete the deal, which the Italian journalist confirmed would be a loan out that gives the Spaniards an option to permanently buy Cancelo.
