According to Last Word on Football’s sources, Leeds United have an agreement with Leicester City “signed and sealed” for left-back Luke Thomas on loan. This comes after reported interest from Manchester United, with the Yorkshire club coming out on top in the battle for the youngster’s services. Thomas was also described as “outstanding” by previous manager Brendan Rodgers.
SINCE INITIAL ARTICLE RELEASE, LUKE THOMAS HAS CONFIRMED A MOVE TO SHEFFIELD UNITED. Last Word on Football takes its sources very seriously, and after reaching out there was a misunderstanding between our source and his source of information. We apologise for any confusion.
Leeds United Beat Manchester United to Luke Thomas Loan Deal
Why Leeds United Need Luke Thomas
One of the weakest spots in Daniel Farke’s squad is at left-back. Junior Firpo, known for near-constant injury issues, is one of the only dedicated full-backs at the club, with Leo Hjelde and Sam Byram able to slot in only as temporary stopgaps. Signing a permanent option in the position not only adds necessary quality but stops the ongoing issue of putting square pegs in round holes at Elland Road.

Interest from Manchester United
Leeds’ move for the full-back faced some late difficulty as a result of their bitter rivals, Manchester United, considering a hijack. The Red Devils have a dearth of fit and healthy talent at the moment in that position, with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw both missing from the squad due to injuries. Loyal Whites will be more than happy with harming a historic enemy whilst improving their own side.
Remaining Leeds United Transfer Business
After securing the Leicester player at left-back, there isn’t much work left to be done for the Elland Road hierarchy. One of the weaker positions remaining on the pitch is in central midfield, where there is minimal depth for the Whites outside the starting duo of Ethan Ampadu and Archie Gray.
Any other business would likely be relating to outgoing players, with the loss of a player such as Luis Sinisterra likely leading to the side looking for a replacement winger.
