Florian Plettenberg has provided an exciting update for Leeds United fans. According to reports, Wered Bremen’s Illia Gruev is close to joining the Whites in the closing days of the transfer window. The club has been following multiple midfield options and Gruev could be the one they add to their squad soon.

Gruev Is Keen on the Move
According to Plettenberg, Leeds are on the verge of adding the Bremen midfielder to their squad ahead of the deadline day. The is not sealed yet but the negotiations are at an advanced stage, progressing positively.
The Bulgarian midfielder is reportedly keen on a move and wants to play in England this season. The Elland Road outfit will pay a transfer fee in the region of £5 million to the German club for their prized asset. Bremen head coach, Ole Werner has described the player as “a clever footballer with a good technique”.

Leeds’ Other Midfield Targets
Leeds wrapped up their sixth signing of the window by capturing Tottenham Hotspur’s right-back, Djed Spence. Now the attention has reportedly shifted to reinforcing the midfield and the club’s hierarchy is prioritising reinforcements in that position.
The Yorkshire-based club have been in the transfer market for a central midfielder ever since they lost their talisman, Tyler Adams to Bournemouth. According to The Athletic, the Championship club is still looking for options to bolster the centre of the park.

Norwich City’s Kenny McLean is one of the players that was on the club’s list but reportedly The Canaries are unwilling to lose their 31-year-old midfielder. A more realistic and younger target for the central midfield position is Matt O’Riley who currently plays for Celtic in Scottish Premiership. Daniel Farke’s side, reportedly have a strong interest in the 22-year-old. Glen Kamara from Rangers was also followed for a number of weeks but the deal never materialised.
