City Make Move for Young Central Defender

It has been revealed that Manchester City have made a move for 19-year-old Jamal Baptiste to reinforce their defensive options for the future. Baptiste became a free agent after his deal with West Ham United expired on July 1st 2023. The youngster, born in 2003, will be part of City’s project to develop the best youngsters in Europe.

Romano revealed on Wednesday night that the deal is “done”, with Baptiste set to be immediately loaned out to Belgian side Lommel.

Baptiste revealed to The Athletic last season that he wanted to leave West Ham United, saying: “Playing academy football from 15 to 19 is a long time. I’m ready for first-team football and to take the next step. I loved having the opportunity to play for West Ham; I’m a local lad and the club will always have a place in my heart.”
