According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have now reached an agreement to sign Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella was seemingly the prime target for the Red Devils, but recent developments have led the club’s hierarchy to switch targets.

Sergio Reguilon Now Undergoing Medical Tests
After the injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, United were without a senior left-back in the squad. According to Romano, the 20-time Premier League champions are on the verge of bringing in Reguilon on a loan deal. The 26-year-old is currently undergoing medical tests, before a deal can be completed, which has a clause to break the loan in January.
The Spurs full-back was evidently out of favour as he had not featured once this season under Ange Postecoglou. Amidst all the tension of the fast-approaching transfer deadline, Manchester United have found their target to alleviate their injury woes – and they are seemingly are close to getting their man.

Cup Appearance for Marc Cucurella Complicated Potential Loan
Fabrizio Romano had reported that the club’s only focus was Cucurella and no other left-back before recent complications. The Chelsea defender started the EFL cup game against AFC Wimbledon, his first appearance of the season.

According to the Athletic, following the EFL cup appearance of Cucurella for Chelsea, it would be impossible for United to offload the player in January as he would have already played for two clubs. This is a complication – that has led the Premier League giants to pursue Reguilon.
