Manchester United’s Luke Shaw situation was just given a devastating update. The English left-back had been injured in their league match against Tottenham earlier this season. Now, it appears that he will be out for ten weeks, but the Red Devils appear to have found a suitable replacement.

This injury caused the club to pursue multiple defenders late in the transfer window. One of them appears to be on his way to completing medical tests and coming to Old Trafford on a loan deal.

Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon is all but a Red Devil at this moment, as the Spaniard has agreed to be loaned with an option to recall him in January per Simon Jones. His arrival comes at the perfect moment as Shaw’s time away from the team is likely longer than Erik ten Hag had hoped for.
A Slew of United Injuries
This is not the only notable absence from the starting lineup that the Red Devils are dealing with at the moment. So far this campaign they have witnessed multiple players go down, or deal with fitness issues in their new signings. Other notable names currently sidelined include Thomas Heaton, Mason Mount, Amad Diallo and fellow left-back Tyrell Malacia.
One more injury to take into account is that of the highly-anticipated Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish striker joined from Serie A club Atalanta. Supporters were aware he was recovering from an injury he picked up before the move. If Ten Hag was expecting the squad to stay fit while Hojlund healed, the Shaw injury among others proved him wrong.
United’s Season So Far
Through their first three matches in the Premier League, United have two wins and one loss. An opening but nervy win against Wolves was followed by a humbling defeat to Spurs. Despite a disaster start a narrow victory over Nottingham Forest has the Red Devils sitting eighth in the table.

Drawn into Group A in their return to the Champions League, Old Trafford will host Bayern Munich, Galatasaray, and Copenhagen. Shaw will miss the opening of those matches, but Reguilon will have to deputise in their efforts to secure second place in the group and advance to the knockout rounds.
