Barcelona have fallen behind the pack in the La Liga title race in the early weeks of the 2023/24 season, and it seems there is a need for another clinical goal-scorer to turn the draws into wins. It appears that Xavi Hernandez’s side might get that in the January transfer window with the arrival of Vitor Roque.

Barcelona Likely to Seal Vitor Roque Signing in January
What Did Roque’s Agent Say About Transfer Window Situation?
Barcelona announced the signing of Roque from Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense earlier this year, with the young forward deciding to join them over the other sides that wanted to sign him. However, as part of the arrangement, Athletico were given assurances – that they would be allowed to keep the attacker at the club until the end of 2023.

It also appears that the La Liga giants want to register the young forward, who is currently out with an ankle injury, into their first-team squad during the January transfer window. The player’s agent, Arthur Cury, has stated that “everything has been agreed” between the necessary parties to ensure that the 18-year-old is playing in Barcelona colours for the second half of the season.
He continued: “Barcelona and the player’s plan remains clear: he’s joining the club in January. Everything has been agreed with Paranaense for him to join in January. He’s now recovering, we feel he could be ready in four weeks.”
What Can Roque Bring to Barcelona?
The teenage forward has earned praise for his impressive work for the Brazilian club, where he has proved himself as a versatile and agile threat. Roque can operate anywhere across the front, be it either of the wings. But his best position is in the centre-forward role, where he shows how clinical he is in front of goal.

Roque scored 20 goals and provided eight assists in 42 appearances last season – but has had troubles with injury issues this season. He has also made 11 appearances for the Brazi U20 side, scoring six goals. The 18-year-old has been tipped to have a “bright future” by Manchester City legend Fernandinho and should help improve Barcelona’s attacking options after joining the team.
