Fabrizio Romano Delivers Update on Future of ‘Brilliant’ Manchester United Forward as Serie A Club ‘Make Contact’

Erik ten Hag has had numerous issues on and off the field to deal with this season but according to Fabrizio Romano, the Jadon Sancho saga may finally be coming to a close with Juventus interested in acquiring the player in January.

£72 Million Signing Has Failed to Carry Form Since Move From Germany

The big-money move was finally completed in July 2021 as Sancho signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford after an impressive stint with Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old chalked up a half-century of goals for the German giants in just 137 appearances.

If his assists are included he was just shy of a goal involvement every game which was remarkable for a player who decided to leave Manchester City’s academy to ignite his career in Europe.

The deal to bring Sancho to Man Utd still ranks in the top ten for most expensive signings involving English players. However, the player once hailed “brilliant” by his manager, who lifted a German Cup and German Super Cup in his time with Die Schwarzgelben has been frozen out of the first-team picture at Manchester and will almost certainly be moving this winter.

The situation has emerged due to the player being criticized by Ten Hag for a lack of effort in training and Sancho responding that he had been made a scapegoat for the side in recent times. He refused to accept his manager’s criticisms and has been exiled from the first-team squad.

Before this disagreement had occurred, he had failed to nail down a regular starting place and looked far from the player we had seen before his move, with just 18 goal involvements in 82 appearances.

Juventus have reportedly asked for information on a deal for the winger in recent days, but are looking for a loan deal and for his current employers to cover a part of his astronomical wages. It is believed that United would like to be free of the player and are seeking a permanent deal when the transfer window opens.

It does seem likely that the player will leave in January, although it may be difficult to do a permanent deal as the club will be looking for some type of transfer fee and the player will want to receive wages similar to what he is currently earning at Old Trafford.

The story has been drawn out in public for months, meaning that every club interested will be aware of how desperate Ten Hag will be to get rid of the player, likely driving down any potential transfer fee.
