The company that backed the controversial European Super League, A22, has recently unveiled a new proposal for both men’s and women’s European competitions. Among other things, its CEO has pledged to provide free soccer streams for fans around the world to tune in to.
This comes after the ruling by the European Court of Justice that banning clubs from joining a breakaway league was unlawful.
New European Super League Plans Revealed
Bombshell Super League Plans
The new proposal is structured as a league system with 64 men’s clubs across three leagues. Unlike previous models, participation in this proposed structure would be based on sporting merit rather than permanent membership.
In addition to this, there would also be a women’s competition featuring 32 clubs spread across two leagues. This move signifies an increased focus on promoting and developing women’s soccer at the highest level.
Super League Clubs Successful in Their Fight Against Fifa and UEFA
This development follows a legal case brought forward by the European Super League, and its backers, against FIFA and UEFA. They claimed these governing bodies were violating competition law by threatening sanctions against those who joined their breakaway league.
Europe’s highest court ruled against these governing bodies but clarified that it did not necessarily mean approval for any breakaway league. However, this ruling has opened doors for fresh proposals to surface and allows clubs to explore opportunities to organise and manage their own European soccer competitions.
While no specific details about participating clubs or prize money have been announced yet in the A22 proposal, it does mention an annual promotion and relegation system being put into place.
This structure aims at maintaining competitive balance while ensuring every club gets fair opportunities based on their performance rather than historical prestige or financial power alone.
Free Live Streams of European Super League Matches
The proposal also includes a significant feature for soccer fans. It promises that fans would be able to watch live matches for free on a new digital streaming platform.
A22 CEO, Bernd Reichart, said:
“The proposal also includes innovative plans to launch the world’s leading direct-to-fan sports streaming platform, where billions of fans would be able to watch live all Super League matches for free.”
This move could revolutionize the way soccer is consumed, making it more accessible to fans worldwide.
The new proposal by A22 represents a potential shift in the landscape of European soccer competitions.
While it remains to be seen how this will play out, one thing is certain – the future of European soccer could look very different if these proposals are accepted and implemented successfully.
