Bayern Munich have opted to stand firm behind Thomas Tuchel despite losing three consecutive games. Sunday night’s 3-2 loss to Vfl Bochum saw Bayern drop eight points behind the Bundesliga leaders, Bayer Leverkusen. However, despite mounting pressure and speculation regarding Tuchel’s future, the club’s top brass remain confident in his ability to steer the team back on track, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Pressure Builds On Under-Fire Tuchel
Bayern CEO Defends German Coach
Jan-Christian Dreesen, Bayern’s CEO, reiterated the club’s support for Tuchel, brushing aside talks of his dismissal. “I don’t believe in these monstrous statements of support for coaches. I know what you want to hear, but these oaths of loyalty are already over after a week. That’s why I’m saying it in my own way. That’s not a topic we’re dealing with at the moment. We have to move on to the next ones Concentrate on games,” said Dreesen in a post-match statement.
When asked if Tuchel would be in charge next week against RB Leipzig, he answered with a simple two-word response: “Of course.”
Before the loss to Bochum, Bayern had lost to league leaders, Leverkusen, last weekend before losing 1-0 against Lazio in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg during the mid-week. Questions have been raised about Tuchel’s efficiency since taking over last season. The Bavarians narrowly won the Bundesliga last term, but have been eliminated from the DFB Pokal and lost the DFL Supercup final to Leipzig.
Tuchel Confident Of Turning Things Around
The former Chelsea boss defended his team after the loss and told DAZN: “The defeat was not fair today, a lot went against us. We had an xG value of 3.4 and we had four, five, six top-class chances. If we play this game five more time, we’d win it five times. I don’t blame the players today.”
He went on to admit that winning the title this season does not look “very realistic” but insisted that his side “will keep working at it”.
Leon Goretzka, however, did not share his manager or club CEO’s sentiments and was quoted saying: “It feels like a horror movie that is not ending. Everything is going against us at the moment.”
The team could find themselves 11 points off the top of the table next weekend with Xabi Alonso’s side taking on relegation-threatened Mainz.
