Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo battles for the ball with Nottigham Forest's Anthony Elanga

Chelsea are looking for a bright end to what has been a mixed bag of a 2023/24 season under Mauricio Pochettino, one they are guaranteed to finish trophyless. With Thiago Silva recently confirming his decision to leave, the club seem to be looking at potential replacements and there has been an update on their links to Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo.

How Much Could Adarabioyo Cost Chelsea?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea has actually “called to be informed” on the situation revolving around the 26-year-old centre-back, as his contract comes closer to expiration. The journalist confirms that Adarabioyo will be leaving Fulham as a free agent in the summer window, which is why he is attracting interest from multiple clubs.

As a result, Chelsea won’t have to pay any fee for him and can rope him as an ideal Thiago Silva replacement, with the Brazilian centre-back also leaving to become a free agent. With that being said, Romano also claims that there is still no proposal from the Blues to the centre-back’s representatives over a possible transfer and nothing is advanced in that regard.

The journalist also reveals that Newcastle United are in the race to sign Adarabioyo and that they are talking with his agents, but that nothing has been agreed upon so far.

Can Adarabioyo Be A Good Fit For Chelsea?

The 26-year-old central defender has attracted a lot of attention for his impressive performances for Fulham in the Premier League this season. An ex-Manchester City academy graduate, the Englishman has helped the Cottagers keep six clean sheets in 20 league appearances this season and also scored two goals, producing admirable outings in wins over Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Adarabioyo is blessed with impressive pace and his game-reading ability helps him cut out a lot of opposition moves in his box, with the defender averaging over four clearances and three aerial duels won per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Fulham manager Marco Silva hailed him as a “special player” earlier in the campaign, and given how he’s proven his ability to keep major Premier League forwards quiet, it remains to be seen if Chelsea accelerates their interest to sign him anytime soon.
