Manchester United loanee Donny van de Beek has suffered an Achilles injury. Eintracht Frankfurt has confirmed the midfielder has returned to the Netherlands – to receive further treatment.

Another Disappointing Loan Spell
Van De Beek’s nightmarish career path since joining Manchester United has seen him leave the club on two loan deals. The Dutchman spent a six-month loan at Everton in 2022, making seven appearances for the Toffees.

This January, United once again loaned out Van de Beek, who had played only 21 minutes across all competitions in the first half of the campaign. However, the 27-year-old’s struggles continued at Eintracht Frankfurt as he ended the season with only four Bundesliga starts.
Van de Beek is set to return to Old Trafford this summer as his loan deal expires. However, an injury has forced him to leave Frankfurt early.

Van de Beek has returned to the Netherlands to receive treatment for an Achilles injury that he has recently picked up. The midfielder is unlikely to feature again for Eintracht Frankfurt, bringing his loan spell at the club to an abrupt end.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Eintracht’s upcoming match against Borussia Monchengladbach, manager Dino Toppmoller said of the Manchester United loanee (via LigaInsider): “He is there (the Netherlands) because he is having treatment for a problem with his heel/Achilles tendon. He wanted to see his confidant this week”.
What’s Next for Van de Beek?
Van de Beek hoped to finally find his place in United’s squad when Erik ten Hag arrived at United in 2022. The pair had worked together at Ajax before, but Van de Beek’s struggle to secure regular playing time continued under the Dutch manager.

Eintracht are not expected to activate their £9 million buyout clause for Van de Beek as he heads back to United to spend the final year of his current deal. There have been no reports at this time of the Dutchman leaving the club on a new loan or permanent contract.
