The Vincent Kompany to Bayern Munich story is starting to gather some pace. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that there are “negotiations ongoing between the two clubs on compensation fee”.

The Update
Romano revealed that the Belgian manager has “informed Burnley of his agreement with FC Bayern”. The journalist went on to reveal that he “really wants to join the club”.

The move for Kompany is happening rapidly with “negotiations ongoing between the two clubs on compensation fee” and an agreement set to be reached “soon”. This is also unsurprising as all parties should be relatively happy with the move: Kompany gets a move to a big European club, Burnley should receive a hefty fee, and Bayern will receive their new man in charge.
The Deal So Far
This update comes after the former Manchester City captain reportedly accepted the job right after his first call with the club on May 20.
Romano explains that the Bayern hierarchy believes he “has huge potential to become a top coach, trusting his vision and ideas”.
Bayern’s Search for a New Manager
The German powerhouse announced back in February that Thomas Tuchel would leave the club at the end of the season, despite having a year left on his contract. They looked set to lose the league title for the first time in 12 years back then, and it became official in April.

Interestingly, there was a petition from fans for the German to stay and there were some U-turn talks which did not succeed.
Kompany would become the seventh head coach at the club since Pep Guardiola left the role in 2016.
Vincent Kompany’s Managerial Career So Far
Taking the helm at his boyhood club Anderlecht, Kompany managed 4th and 3rd place finishes in the Belgian Pro League. His side made the UEFA Conference League play-offs in August 2021 but were eliminated in the qualifiers by Vitesse.
Joining Burnley in June 2022, Kompany helped the club storm the Championship in his first season, becoming the first club to break the 100-point barrier since Leicester City in 2013–14. The Clarets accumulated 101 points and only three defeats.

While Burnley were relegated from the Premier League in 2023/24, Kompany stuck to his progressive playing style which will certainly come with more success at a club with higher level players. They lost just two out of nine matches in March and April, just falling short at the final hurdle.
