Mason Greenwood is a target for Marseille, with Manchester United expected to part ways with the striker this summer.
Marseille Make Formal Approach for Mason Greenwood

This morning (July 8), Fabrizio Romano reported that Marseille have approached United with an interest in signing Greenwood, who has just come off the back of a ten-goal in all competitions season on loan at Getafe.

With Marseille’s main man from last season in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who scored 17 league goals as the club finished 8th in Ligue 1 – having turned 35 last month, the club’s hierarchy are turning to Greenwood to inject some fresh legs into the frontline of Roberto De Zerbi’s side as the Italian boss looks to mould the squad to his liking having been appointed as the club’s new manager on June 24.
Romano also says that United are open to a loan with an obligation to buy, with a sell-on clause included in the deal.
The Situation Surrounding Greenwood
Greenwood hasn’t played for United since January 2022; this was because of charges of rape and assault which have since been dropped after a key witness withdrew their statement. The player is currently valued at €25 million (or about£21 million) by Transfermarkt, a £17 million increase from when he joined Getafe in September 2023.
It seems all the more likely that Greenwood’s 82 minutes against West Ham in January 2022 were his last minutes in a United shirt, a disappointing fall from grace after showing his quality from the moment he made his first team debut in 2019.
With Rasmus Hojlund now a regular starter for Erik ten Hag’s side and Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee said to be close to a transfer to Old Trafford, Greenwood will likely be moved on as he looks to revive his career away from his boyhood club.
