The Liverpool centre-back said he “hasn’t the slightest idea right now.”
Van Dijk then revealed: “I will think carefully this summer about what I want at club level and as an international player,” he added. “Then we’ll go for it again, but first recover from this.”

Reflecting on Van Dijk‘s Season
The Liverpool captain was a near ever-present part of Jurgen Klopp’s team last season, only missing two Premier League games. With only one year left on his deal and Arne Slot replacing Klopp, it seems logical the Dutchman would be considering his future. At 33 years old, Van Dijk is still performing at a high level – starting in all six of the Netherlands matches at Euro 2024.

Since moving to Liverpool, Van Dijk has been influential in helping his team win the Champions League in 2019 and ending their league title drought, with the Anfield club lifting the Premier League trophy in 2020. The Dutchman is widely considered by many fans and fellow players – to be one of the best defenders in recent years.
Despite his advancing years, losing their talismanic captain will surely hurt Slot as the Dutch manager prepares for life in the Anfield hot seat.
