Three Liverpool Players to Transfer in for FPL Gameweek 1 Including Hidden Gem

Liverpool Predicted Lineup Vs Ipswich Town: Andy Robertson Benched

The Premier League season kicks off on Friday, August 16, meaning the official Fantasy Premier League (FPL) deadline for the start of the season is on that day at 6:30 pm (UK time). Liverpool kick off their season against Ipswich Town, so many managers will be considering their players for this week. These are the three best Liverpool players to transfer in for FPL Gameweek 1.

Three Best Liverpool Players for FPL Gameweek 1

1. Mohamed Salah – £12.5 Million

Mohamed Salah is by no means a hidden gem, but his ownership is not as high as it has been in previous years. Furthermore, he costs a significant £2.5 million less than Erling Haaland. Salah is always a great player to own on FPL as it is not unfeasible to keep him in your team for the entire season.

The biggest selling point of the Egyptian is what he provides as a captaincy option. Salah is by far the best captain for Gameweek 1, as he faces newly promoted Ipswich Town. By comparison, Manchester City play Chelsea and Arsenal host Wolves. Any managers that don’t own the winger will lose out on double as many points as he scores.

2. Jarell Quansah – £4.5 Million

At just £4.5 million, Jarell Quansah could be one of the biggest FPL bargains in the game. The 21-year-old broke through last season, starting the final four fixtures ahead of Ibrahima Konate. He started four pre-season friendlies, whilst the Frenchman started only two, and was hooked at half-time against Manchester United. Quansah could be Virgil van Dijk’s partner for the start of the 2024/25 season.

If the centre-back is to start, Liverpool’s opening five fixtures look good for scoring potential clean-sheet points. As mentioned, they open against new boys Ipswich Town. They also face a Brentford side that could lose Ivan Toney, and both Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth at home. At a low risk £4.5 million, Quansah has potential to be a hidden gem.

3. Trent Alexander-Arnold – £7.0 Million

Liverpool have strong depth in their forward line, and a new manager whose preferences are not known yet. Any attacker not named Salah seems to carry too much of a minutes risk to own. For example, we don’t know whether Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, or Diogo Jota will be Arne Slot‘s preferred striker.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold is a goal/assist threat, and a guaranteed starter. He will also accumulate clean sheet points just like Quansah. Whilst £7.0 million seems a steep price for a defender, Nunez, Gakpo, Jota, and Luis Diaz all cost £7.5 million. If the right-back can recover his 2019/20 form of 13 assists and four goals, £7 million may look like a bargain.
