'Will Travel to Manchester': Manchester United Seal Blockbuster Agreement for 'Wonderful' Star, Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United have had a shaky start to the 2024/25 Premier League season after their recent loss to Brighton & Hove Albion raised question marks on Erik ten Hag’s side. However, it appears that they’ll now finally be getting some reinforcement in midfield with the signing of Manuel Ugarte from PSG.

How Much Will PSG Receive?

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Red Devils have now sealed the deal to sign the Uruguayan midfielder from the Ligue 1 heavyweights. He claims that personal terms with the midfielder have been agreed since July and the player will now finally be able to make the move to the Premier League giants.

Romano reveals that United will be signing the 23-year-old on a permanent basis and not on loan, as was hinted earlier. He confirms that they’ll be paying PSG an initial fixed fee of £42.2 million with £8.4 million extra in potential add-ons. The journalist adds that Ugarte “will travel to Manchester” to complete the deal before the summer transfer window ends on August 30 and that he only wanted a move to Old Trafford.

What Can Be Expected From Manuel Ugarte at Manchester United?

The Red Devils will be bringing in the 23-year-old midfielder as a replacement for Scott McTominay, who is reportedly heading to Serie A giants Napoli: a deal has been agreed for his sale. Ugarte is not exactly a goal-scoring midfielder like the Scotsman but is going to strengthen the Red Devils’ midfield core and is being brought in to compete with Casemiro for that number six role.

The Uruguayan midfielder is an aggressive, no-nonsense customer who excels in winning the ball back in key areas whilst also distributing it well. PSG manager Luis Enrique called him a “wonderful” player last year and also praised his ability to be excellent in winning duels. Ugarte is poised to become United’s fifth signing of the summer after they roped in Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
