‘No Concrete Talks’: Manchester United ‘Serial Winner’ Set to Stay Despite Links

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Aston Villa

Manchester United’s Casemiro is not planning on an exit transfer despite links with Galatasaray. The midfielder will stay at the club this window, with the Premier League deadline already passed. The Turkish Super Lig deadline is on September 13.

Casemiro Set to Stay at Manchester United Amidst Galatasaray Links

No Concrete Talks

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United currently expect Casemiro to stay at the club, at least until 2025. This suggests that he could leave in the January transfer window. The player himself is not planning to leave, despite an unimpressive 2023/24 season and a patchy start to the new campaign. The Brazilian had a torrid first-half against Liverpool and was hooked at the break for Premier League debutant Toby Collyer, who completely outshone him.

There had been links with Galatasaray which would make sense; the “serial winner” would likely thrive in a less competitive league and the Turkish club should in theory be able to cover his wages. However, there have reportedly been “no concrete talks” between the player and the suitors.

Casemiro Likely to Be Dropped

After the Deadline Day signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint Germain, it seems unlikely that Casemiro will continue to start for United. Spending a potential £50 million (including add-ons) for the Uruguayan, Erik ten Hag will surely utilise him in the defensive midfield. Youngster Kobbie Mainoo is also a favourite to start: not only is the 19-year-old arguably better than his Brazilian teammate, but consistent minutes are crucial for his development.

Aside from this, the former Real Madrid star has performed poorly for the past year, despite a fantastic debut season for the Red Devils in 2022/23: Casemiro was by far their most important player. Ten Hag’s bold choice to switch the 32-year-old for Collyer against Liverpool suggests very limited league minutes for him this season.
