Everton Predicted Lineup to Host Southampton in Carabao Cup
How Everton Have Lined Up
Sean Dyche has started former Burnley centre-back duo Michael Keane and James Tarkowski in all four league matches this year. New signing Jake O’Brien featured alongside Keane in their first Carabao Cup match. Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko have also started every match to start the season. The right-back position has seen three different starters: Ashley Young, Seamus Coleman and Roman Dixon all starting early in the season.

In the Premier League, Tim Iroegbunam has been paired with Idrissa Gueye in the midfield pivot, with James Garner starting in place of the latter in the team’s one cup game. Dwight McNeil has shifted into the centre attacking midfielder role, with Iliman Ndiaye replacing him on the left wing. Jack Harrison has been the first-choice right winger in the league with Jesper Lindstrom earning the one start in the cup against Doncaster Rovers.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has continued to lead the line in the league, scoring in his last two matches. Portuguese striker Beto is coming off the bench in most matches, having the one cup start as well.
Everton Recent Form and Tactics
Everton have failed to earn a point in the Premier League and sit at the bottom of the table. The Toffees have conceded 13 goals in four matches, two more than any other team. But they now face Southampton who have struggled to find the back of the net to start the season. The Saints scored their solo goal in a 3-1 loss to Brentford.

This matchup will feature two juxtaposing styles of football. Dyche’s preferred formation of 4-2-3-1 relies heavily on pressing and long balls to create chances. They rank second in combined tackles and interceptions. In comparison, The Saints are 19th. The South Coast side are also second in pass attempts while The Toffees have attempted the least in the league.
Everton Injuries to Consider Vs Southampton
Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson have returned to training but will not feature in this match. Seamus Coleman picked up a knock on international duty that kept him out of the weekend’s match but could be fit for this fixture.
