How Manchester United  Have Lined-up Recently

Manchester United have once again lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation at the start of this season, with André Onana playing every game except the 7-0 drubbing of League One Barnsley this week, where he was replaced by Altay Bayindir.

Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot have been the regular starting full-backs for the Red Devils, with Matthijs De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez rekindling their days under Erik ten Hag at Ajax in the centre, with Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans as back-up.

In midfield, it has been two of Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and new arrival Manuel Ugarte, with Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and either Alejandro Garnacho or Amad Diallo in front of them.

Joshua Zirkzee has been holding the fort up front, in the absence of the soon-to-be-returning Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

Ten Hag’s side have had a mixed start to the campaign, with two wins and two losses to start the Premier League. With that being said, the Red Devils have won the past two games, albeit against limited opposition in newly promoted Southampton and League One outfit Barnsley. Tactically, there have been some improvements at Old Trafford, with the team drastically reducing the number of shots faced in games compared to last season.

On the other hand, there is still a long way to go if United hope to challenge for top prizes once again, with the defeat against Liverpool a painful reminder of just how easily high-quality opposition can rip through the soft underbelly of a midfield.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

Mason Mount and Hojlund (Both thigh) are in line for a return to action at Selhurst Park this weekend. Victor Lindelof (Ankle) and Luke Shaw (Calf) should be back in action in early October, with Tyrell Malacia ( Knee) and Lény Yoro (Ankle) due back in late October and November respectively.
