Newcastle United continue their Premier League season as they visit Chelsea this Sunday, October 27 at 2:00 PM local time. The Magpies will hope to put last week’s setback behind them with a big result. Here is our Newcastle predicted lineup.
Newcastle Predicted Lineup as They Visit Chelsea
How Newcastle Have Lined Up Recently
Newcastle made two changes in their 1-0 loss at Brighton last weekend. Harvey Barnes dropped to the bench as Alexander Isak returned from injury and Valentino Livramento came in for the injured Kieran Trippier.
Lewis Hall got the nod over Lloyd Kelly once more at left-back. The former Chelsea player has started the last three league matches so he appears to have gotten Eddie Howe’s favour.

Howe has also settled on a consistent midfield trio of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton. The three balance each other well and should start against Chelsea. The big question is whether Barnes will return to the lineup.
Newcastle’s Recent Form and Tactics
The Magpies’ loss last week was just their second of the season. Against Brighton, they were unlucky to lose as they had more possession, shots and expected goals against the Seagulls.
They lie ninth in the table, four points off the European places. Their early season form has started to falter and are winless in their last four matches. However, they did take an impressive point against Manchester City in that period.

Howe might opt for a more defensive-minded midfield trio against Chelsea, who will expect to dominate possession, but the combination of Guimaraes, Tonali and Joelinton is working well.
Newcastle Injuries and Suspensions to Consider
Callum Wilson is out for the next three matches. Howe said: “He’s got no injury of such, he just isn’t ready to come back yet.” Wilson is still feeling tightness after his back injury and will not be rushed back.
Dan Burn was “nursing an ankle problem last week” but is fine now. Kieran Trippier is still “out for a few weeks” with his recent thigh injury.
Sven Botman and Jamal Lascelles are both out with long-term injuries. They will not return until the start of 2025 at the earliest.
