Enzo Maresca has given a key update on Chelsea star player Cole Palmer ahead of their all important clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge this Sunday.
Cole Palmer To Play Against Arsenal?
Palmer Injured Against Manchester United
Cole Palmer was spotted limping out of Old Trafford on Sunday after The Blues 1-1 draw with The Red Devils. Lisandro Martinez was the culprit of a knee high challenge on the Englishman. VAR was called upon but decided it was not a sufficient challenge to receive a red card, much to the displeasure of Blues boss Maresca who was quoted after the game: “Cole was in the changing room with ice, so we are waiting now… I think it’s quite clear it was a red.”

The Chelsea number 20 has not trained all week with Maresca stating that “Cole is getting better but because he can walk and have dinner doesn’t mean he can play.” He went on to say: “hopefully we can have him for a session, at least on Saturday and then we take a decision.” This is quite damning for the Stamford Bridge faithful to hear, Palmer has provided seven goals and five assists in ten Premier League matches this season and has been the standout star for The Blues.

Contrary to Chelsea, Arsenal are set to receive a huge boost before the game with captain Martin Odegaard set to return for the Gunners; he provided eight goals and ten assists last term.
The Rest Of The Squad Available
Maresca finished his press conference in a positive tone saying “at this moment we are quite lucky we don’t have many injuries, we have 24 or 25 available.” The Chelsea boss has used two different starting line-ups in The Premier League and the cup competitions this season, really emphasising the squad depth available to the Italian, but he insists it won’t always be this easy: ”We protect the players in this moment, but it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen all season because there will be a moment where we have injuries or we need to change things.”
