Gillingham Sign Ryan Jackson
Jackson Returns to Priestfield
Jackson completed his move back to Gillingham from a three-year spell at Colchester United. He made 140 appearances for the League Two side and scored six goals.
The full-back featured for Gillingham between 2015 and 2017, making 80 appearances for the club during this time.
Speaking to Gillingham’s official site following confirmation of his move today, Jackson said: “I’m happy to be back; I really enjoyed my time here before so it was a bit of a no brainer to come back.
“I remember my first year of my first spell; we beat Millwall 3-0 at the Den – that was a good memory. I am now looking forward to meeting up with the boys.”
Jackson has also played for many Football League clubs in his ten-year career. He has represented AFC Wimbledon, Fleetwood Town, Cambridge United and Macclesfield Town.
Evans: ‘He Needs No Introduction’
Gills manager Steve Evans was pleased to confirm the re-signing of Jackson for the club earlier today.
Evans confirmed Jackson received offers from other clubs but was delighted to see off competition and secure the full-back’s signature ahead of the new season.
Also speaking to the Gills official site, Evans said: “We are really pleased; he needs no introduction from me to Gills fans, does he?
“The kid had four or five options and at one point I thought he was drifting but we got it back on track and he’s signed and joined us.
“I have spoken to two or three lads that have played for me and Paul at previous clubs who played in League 2 last year and they were raving about him.”
