The October Premier League Player of the Month shortlist has been announced. There is little surprise to see Harry Kane on that list along with Tottenham Hotspur teammate Son Heung-Min
Premier League Player of the Month Nominations for October
Joining the Spurs duo on the shortlist are Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, Conor Coady, Che Adams, Pablo Fornals and Thiago Silva.
The Son and Kane Show
There is possibly not a more prolific strike partnership in Europe right now than Son and Kane. In the Premier League alone they have been responsible for 24 goals between them. 10 assists and 14 goals.
They are also challenging Premier League records and only now behind Chelsea legends Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard in terms of goals scored and created. There is an almost telepathic underrating between the pair and they make a great team.
The Rise and Rise of Jack Grealish
Jack Grealish never stops working hard for his craft. Despite outstanding performances last season as Aston Villa stayed up against the odds, the midfielder was overlooked by England.
He has not complained but got his head down and earned his call up. Grealish was in imperious form as Villa shocked the Premier League with a 7-2 thrashing of Liverpool.
Clean Sheets Put Thiago Silva in the Spotlight
Chelsea’s start to the season saw some shoddy defending and new signing Thiago Silva had a nightmare debut. Silva has continued to improve and Chelsea managed to keep three clean sheets in October.
Who Else Makes the Shortlist?
Conor Coady of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Che Adams of Southampton, Kyle Walker of Manchester City and Pablo Fornals of West Ham United complete the list for Octobers Player of the Month.
Favourite
It is hard to look beyond the Tottenham duo of Son and Kane claiming the award. What could happen is that the pair split the vote and then give a greater chance to one of the others.
Aside from Son and Kane, Jack Grealish was the outstanding candidate. It will be interesting to see how this vote goes with all candidates exciting and delighting fans of the Premier League.
