The battle for Champions League football in the Bundesliga is set to be a fierce fight for the rest of the season. Eintracht Frankfurt have firmly put themselves in contention after an excellent run of form. A major player in their success this campaign is Portuguese striker Andre Silva who appears to have found a home in Germany.
Since leaving Porto, Silva has struggled to settle but appears to have finally found a team and manager who love his abilities. Eintracht Frankfurt are reaping the rewards and a suited style of play is unlocking the best out of the Portuguese striker.
Only Robert Lewandowski has more Bundesliga goals than the prolific Silva. He is vital to their team and appears to be basking in the best form of his career.
Andre Silva Appears to Have Found a Home at Eintracht Frankfurt
17 Goals in 19 League Games for the Striker
Silva has been with the Bundesliga side for the past 18 months, having initially joined on loan in the 2019 summer transfer window. The two-year loan swap deal with AC Milan, which saw Ante Rebic move to Serie A, was made permanent before this season started.
A settled home has certainly brought the best out of the striker. He is the focal point of Frankfurt’s attack and is firing them to the Champions League as it stands. His 17 league goals have propelled Eintracht Frankfurt into the Bundesliga top four.
Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter has unlocked the very best out of the striker. He is thoroughly enjoying his football and is settled in Germany.
Silva made his name at Porto, scoring 17 goals in 41 league games. Those impressive statistics earned him a move to AC Milan in 2017 but struggled to settle in Italy. In 25 league appearances across two seasons, he managed just two league goals. Sandwiched in between his AC Milan spell was a year in La Liga with Sevilla. That loan move offered regular football and a chance to score goals. He scored nine times in 27 league games.
The move to Germany in 2019 appears to have suited all parties involved. Silva was tasked with filling the void left by Sebastian Haller and Luka Jovic. He initially partnered up with Bas Dost in his first season, scoring 12 times in 25 Bundesliga games. This season has seen has numbers improve, notching 17 goals in 19 league games, including five in his last three league matches.
Its been a season to remember so far and Silva will be determined to earn Eintracht Frankfurt a place at Europe’s top table.
Silva Has Played His Part in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Sensational Run to the Top Four
A season which started very slowly for the Eagles has sparked into life with a stunning nine-match unbeaten run, which has seen Eintracht Frankfurt collect 23 points from the 27 available. Their nine-game unbeaten streak is currently the longest unbeaten run in the Bundesliga.
They are scoring goals and playing some of the most exciting football in Europe. Their excellent run has seen pick up points off their Champions League rivals Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach. Frankfurt’s season has clicked at the right time and certainly, they are firing on all cylinders.
Silva, of course, has played his part in their run. He has scored ten goals in those nine matches, including braces against Hertha Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld. The red-hot striker has scored in four of their last five league games.
Adi Hutter deserves huge credit for turning their flailing season around. Their campaign started extremely slowly, with Frankfurt winning just twice in their opening 11 league games. Too many draws were halting their progress because they have been tough to beat but they are failing to see off their opponents.
But their season has taken off in recent weeks with an unbeaten sequence which has yielded seven victories. Hoffenheim, Hertha Berlin, Arminia Bielefeld, Schalke, Mainz, Bayer Leverkusen and FC Augsburg have all tasted defeat to the Eagles. Wolfsburg were the last side to beat Adi Hutter’s side who, like the Eagles, are having an impressive season.
Frankfurt are basking in great form and a Champions League place for next season is very much within their reach.
Adi Hutter’s Bold Attacking Style Has Unlocked the Whole Side Including the Prolific Andre Silva
Their success has been built on an exciting blend of attacking football and defensive protection. Only two sides have beaten the Eagles this season even before their stunning unbeaten sequence.
Adi Hutter has seen players come and go but continues to build a competitive team challenging for European football. The Eagles have settled on a back three, a solid midfield four, which includes wing backs, and two attackers playing behind Andre Silva.
Since David Abraham’s early departure in the January transfer window, Hutter has settled on a back three of Martin Hinteregger, Tuta and Evan Ndicka. The trio have started the last four league games together and while a clean sheet has eluded them so far, they are a very difficult unit to break down.
Austrian international Hinteregger leads the back three guiding his partners and its worked perfectly. The two attackers behind the central striker have alternated between Aymen Barkok, Daichi Kamada and Amin Younes. All three have excelled in the role providing the perfect support for Silva.
They are pacey attackers that are perfectly set up for counter-attacks and they all possess real quality on the ball. It’s an exciting attack and certainly one lighting up the Bundesliga. Only Bayern Munich can better Eintracht Frankfurt’s 41 league goals.
Silva has contributed almost half of those. He is vital to Frankfurt’s style of play and is a player full of confidence. The Portuguese striker is scoring all sorts of goals and proving to be one of Europe’s best. His contribution has been astounding but all the other players deserve huge credit for Frankfurt’s terrific season thus far.
The Portuguese Striker Has Firmly Found a Home in Frankfurt
The striker is certainly having the best run of his career. It is clear to see he is enjoying his football and is finally showing all abilities many knew he had. His high-level performances will certainly catch the eye of Portugal manager Fernando Santos.
17 goals in 19 league games is something not to ignore. His role in the Eintracht Frankfurt side is undeniable and continue at this rate, he will firmly be in the running for a spot in the European Championship squad.
His career appeared to stagnate in Serie A but the Bundesliga and a manager who has total belief in him has brought the best out of Silva. The striker has found his feet and finally appears to have settled in a club having struggled in his career thus far.
Silva has become a firm fans favourite and should he fire Eintracht Frankfurt to the Champions League he will become a club legend. He has found a home in the Bundesliga and his side are certainly ones to watch for the rest of this season.
