Real Madrid have confirmed that Sergio Ramos will leave the club at the end of his current contract. The 35-year-old has been with the club since moving from Sevilla in 2005 and has become one of the best defenders in world football during his time in the Spanish capital.
The club confirmed in a statement tonight that Ramos would depart and there will be a news conference tomorrow where Ramos will speak about his departure for the first time.

Club Legend to Depart
In a short statement, the club said: “Real Madrid CF announces that tomorrow, Thursday, June 17, at 12:30 pm, there will be an institutional act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos, with the presence of our president Florentino Pérez.
“Next, Sergio Ramos will appear before the media at a telematic press conference.”
Ramos has been a mainstay in the Real Madrid team since his arrival 16 years ago. Aside from a couple of years with Sevilla early on, Ramos has spent all of his career with Los Blancos, and has become an integral part of the Spanish national side in that time too.
In total, he made 671 appearances for the club, scoring 101 goals. He also won four Champions League winners medals, five La Liga titles, four Club World Cups and three UEFA Super Cups.
Fabrizio Romano reports that returning manager Carlo Ancelotti, who joined the club from Everton earlier this month, tried to convince Ramos to stay at the club, but the defender was adamant that he wanted something new.
Clubs have been on alert for some time knowing that Ramos’ contract at the Bernabeu was up. The Daily Express’ Lewis Winter reports that Thomas Tuchel is eyeing a move for Ramos to help shore up Chelsea’s defence even more, while Manchester United remain keen on the defender to use as a partner for Harry Maguire.
