According to Matt Law of the Telegraph, Romelu Lukaku has emerged as the top priority out of the Chelsea targets. The Inter Milan forward has become one of the best forwards in the world ever since making the move to Italy following a disappointing spell at Manchester United.
Earlier in the window, the Belgian reiterated his happiness at the San Siro, leaving a departure unlikely this summer. Chelsea, however, still look likely to persist with attempting a move with Borussia Dortmund holding their stubborn stance regarding Erling Haaland.
If Lukaku did make the move, it would result in a full circle narrative for his career having started at Chelsea before various loan moves and an eventual permanent departure to Everton.

The Missing Piece
Thomas Tuchel has one of the best squads in Europe to choose from. You could even argue that he has the best based on their European silverware last season. But there seems to be one missing piece. And that’s a clinical forward.
Timo Werner holds plenty of promise, but is he ruthless enough? Probably not. Off the ball, his movement is key to the way the Blues play; there should still be a place for him in the side, but the argument still stands that Tuchel needs a player of Lukaku’s calibre at Stamford Bridge.
If they manage to secure Lukaku, who tops the Chelsea targets, the Blues would be in pole position to secure even more silverware in the forthcoming season. The Premier League will be more competitive than it has been for years. It looks likely to be a four-horse race following Manchester United’s recruitment and Liverpool and Manchester City’s strength in abundance.
Only time will tell whether Chelsea land a striker this summer, but it certainly looks as though they are targeting one.
