Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek Three Preview

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 gameweek three kicks off this Saturday. With an international break coming up afterwards, FPL managers will hope to see a green arrow during that period. Let’s find out more about this gameweek.

Quick Tips

The transfer window is closing in a few days and there is also a break for internationals. Therefore, it is paramount to keep hold of a wildcard at least until gameweek four. Already, we have seen the big news of Harry Kane staying at Tottenham Hotspur. More things will become clear when the transfer window slams shut.

Goalkeepers

Manchester City, West Ham United and Leicester City face opposition with zero points and zero goals. They are the likeliest to keep a clean sheet this week. However, you should stick with your current goalkeeper at this stage of the season. Emiliano Martinez and Robert Sanchez are the most popular choices on FPL at the moment from the playing goalkeepers. They might keep clean sheets as well although they are facing tricky opponents.

Defenders

Konstantinos Tsimikas has produced 17 points in the opening two matches of the season. However, he might just lose his spot to the returning Andrew Robertson this week. The Scottish left-back signed a new contract this week with Liverpool as well.

Shane Duffy has done very well so far and is available at 4.1. With Joel Veltman still out, Duffy’s spot in the side is secure, at least for now.

You could also consider Ricardo Pereira this week. Norwich City have conceded eight goals in two matches and generally looked quite porous at the back. Pereira might get an attacking return as well. However, the Foxes have defensive issues of their own also with Jonny Evans and Jannik Vestergaard both doubtful. Another thing to note is the suspension of Ayoze Perez. There is a chance that Pereira might play in right-wing with Castagne slotting in at right-back.

Tino Livramento seems to be preferred to Kyle Walker-Peters at right back for Southampton. He was quite impressive last week against Manchester United and is a decent option at 4 units.

Midfielders

Manchester City will expect to beat Arsenal but it may not be as easy as some are making it out to be. The Gunners lost 1-0 on both occasions to the Cityzens last season. With some players coming back, Mikel Arteta’s men might put up a better fight.

James Maddison will want to score on his return to old club Norwich City. On the other hand, FPL owners of Harvey Barnes will want to see a return on their investment after two blanks.

As expected, Leeds United have continued their attacking style of football this season. They won 4-0 at Turf Moor last season and will go for a victory this Sunday. Raphina scored a brilliant goal last week and is a solid pick this week also.

There are some rumours going around suggesting an injury to Son Heung-min. That should be clearer in the coming days. Also, there is a wait to see what happens to the lineup with the return of Harry Kane.

Said Benrahma has scored 24 points in the opening two fixtures of the season. The Algerian has been sensational so far and his FPL ownership is rising. One should get him in before his price rises even further.

The matches between Wolves and Manchester United have not produced many goals recently. Bruno Fernandes is a good option in any game as we all know but it may be a tough away trip for the Red Devils. Despite having no points on the board and also failing to score any goals, Wolves have played quite well.

Strikers

Jamie Vardy is a great pick this week. However, his price makes it extremely tough to fit him in.

Harry Kane has a great fixture at home to Watford but his status is unknown. It is probably better to wait and see how he performs before tearing your team out to fit him in.

Romelu Lukaku showed his quality last week but you should probably wait a bit before transferring him in. He has one of the toughest fixtures of the season this week at Anfield.

Michail Antonio has started the season brilliantly. He’s scored almost double the points of the second-highest scoring striker Danny Ings. Amazingly, around 62 per cent of teams still don’t have Antonio in their sides. Ings also is a good option this week against Brentford although the Bees have yet to concede a goal this season. Ivan Toney’s FPL owners will be expecting a return from him in that fixture as well.

Patrick Bamford hasn’t scored this season yet but that could change this week. As mentioned above, Leeds won handsomely at Turf Moor last season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has made a great start to the season with two goals in two games. He had a similarly good start last season also so you might see him continue that trend and he has decent fixtures coming up as well. An added bonus this season is him being on penalties this season.

Fantasy Premier League 2021/22 Gameweek Three Captaincy Picks

A very interesting week for deciding on the captaincy option. None of the big hitters have a particularly juicy fixture. Michail Antonio is probably the best option on current form but one could go with Bruno Fernandes, Son, Kane or even Vardy as well.
