‘I’m Home’
Speaking to the club website about his new deal, Mitrovic said: “It feels amazing. It’s been my home now for three or four years so I’m really happy to sign my contract for the next five years.
“I want to thank Tony Khan, and of course the owner and everyone at the club, for making me feel at home and showing how much they believe in me and how much they love me here, so I’m really happy.”
Tony Khan added:“I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve agreed to a contract extension to keep Aleksandar Mitrović at Fulham Football Club.
“Mitro has been a driving force in both of our recent promotion campaigns in 2018 and 2020, as he’s scored many important goals and created numerous indelible memories for Fulham.
“He’s always embraced the love of our supporters, and he’s been a loyal friend to so many of us at the club, he really cares about Fulham and our people, and still he continues to produce joy for us on and off the pitch; I’m grateful to Mitro for his allegiance to our club and our supporters.”
Bright Start to Season
After struggling in the Premier League last season, a campaign which saw Fulham relegated from the top flight, Mitrovic has begun the 2021/22 Championship season in excellent form.
He has scored in each of his last three outings and also assisted Ivan Cavaleiro in the brilliant 5-1 away at Huddersfield Town.
In Fulham’s promotion season of 2019/20, Mitrovic scored 26 goals in the Championship, which helped them back into the top flight via the play-offs.
In total, he has scored 56 goals in 135 outings for the West London side.
