Edinson Cavani will remain a Manchester United player this January, interim boss Ralf Ragnick has confirmed.
The Uruguayan’s future had been in doubt, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Currently, it looks like Cavani will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old is out of contract at Old Trafford in June and is yet to agree to a new deal with the club. As a result, speculation has arisen that United may look to sell him now, instead of lose him on a free.
However, Ragnick – who remains in interim charge – squashed those rumours ahead of their game against Wolves on Monday night.
“We had quite a few conversations in the last couple of weeks — probably the player with whom I have spoken most,” he said when speaking to The Athletic.
“I told him from the very first day that, for me, he is a highly important player.
“He is probably the only one who can play as a striker back to goal and face to goal.
“His professionalism, his work ethic is just amazing and I told him that I desperately want him to stay until the end of the season. He knows that.
“He also knows how highly I rate him and how highly I respect him, and that was also the reason why I played him [against Burnley] from the beginning together with Cristiano.”
Important Role to Play in the Second Half of the Season
Under the German manager, Cavani can play an important role for Manchester United during the second half of the season.
The Uruguayan featured sporadically under former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and has only made seven appearances in the top-flight so far this season.
However he has come into form in recent games, scoring in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United, which earned him a start in the follow match against Burnley.
Ragnick opted to use him alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, and that could be how the German deploys him in future games.
