As per Fabrizio Romano, Axel Tuanzebe has been loaned to Gli Azzurri for the rest of the season, meaning his loan spell at Aston Villa has come to an end. As per Romano, the loan will last until June for a €600,000 loan fee, plus €600,000 in bonuses.
Axel Tuanzebe Joins Napoli on Loan
Aston Villa Loan Ends
Tuanzebe has spent three different loan spells at the Midlands club and was expected to be there for the rest of the 2021/22 Premier League season. However, he has now been sent on loan to Serie A and Napoli. He will remain on loan in Naples until the end of the current season and the Italian club will pay a €500,000 fee for his services.
Tuanzebe spent the 2020/21 season at United and made 18 appearances but then returned to Villa where he played in the 2017/18 and 2019/19 seasons under then-manager Dean Smith.
However, Smith was then sacked following a poor run of results. New manager Steven Gerrard hasn’t favoured Tuanzebe and he has started to find game time hard to come by which has meant moving abroad may give him better opportunities to eventually break into the first team at Old Trafford.
Progress
Tuanzebe made his debut for United in January 2017 in an FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic that United won 4-0 and then impressed in a 2-1 Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
The centre back is highly thought of at United and came through the Academy, making 37 appearances in total, but if he does impress during his loan spell in Italy Napoli will have the chance to make the move permanent. He’ll be hoping to make significant progress in the Serie A, in similar fashion to how other former Premier League talents have.
