Promising Update on Main Target Erling Haaland
Barcelona manager Xavi has issued a Barcelona transfer update with his eyes set on several targets for transfers in the summer. The Spaniard knows who he wants to sign, and is busy working on the details. Erling Haaland is one of those top of the shopping list. The Leeds born Norwegian striker, currently with Borussia Dortmund, is considered one of the best strikers in the world.
Haaland is a prolific goal scorer, the striker has 14 appearances and has 16 goals to his credit. The Norwegian international could be heading to Spain in the summer, and Xavi appears confident that this will happen. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Barca manager said he has yet to find a player who says no to playing for them. Xavi said “When you can talk to any player, you tell him what’s here, our way of playing, of training… let him know that this is the best club, the city is wonderful”
With Xavi being confident Haaland will join in the summer, his attention can turn to other targets, and also keeping other important players.
Contract Extensions
Another target for Xavi in the summer is Noussair Mazraoui. The right-back has 20 appareances and five goals this season. However, the Moroccan is a very good player and would do well at Barcelona. Frenkie De Jong has confirmed that he will stay in Spain. Romano quotes De Jong as saying that he is very happy at Barcelona and wants to improve.
Ronald Araujo has not yet accepted a contract extension at Barca, neither has Gavi. However, both are very important players for Xavi and he hopes to extend both player’s contract. As top priority to hold onto Xavi believes that it is just a matter of time for the players to sign. The Spaniard hopes that “for the good of the club” both Araujo & Gavi will reach deals and stay with the club.
Barcelona will need to look for alternatives, should agreements not be reached with the players, but they are also looking at Haaland for extra fire power next season.
