Divock Origi’s AC Milan arrival will be slightly delayed. The deal has been in the works for quite some time now, and it is fully expected to happen. Origi, however, who remains a Liverpool player until June 30th, will stay in England for at least another week, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The Belgian striker aims to undergo more treatments for the injury that kept him out of his final Liverpool matches (such as that versus Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Champions League final versus Real Madrid).
Afterwards, Origi fully intends to head to Milan and take his medical examinations. Milan, on the other hand, are preparing the final contract so that it can be signed upon arrival.
Divock Origi AC Milan Arrival Sees Slight Delay
A Welcomed Signing
As mentioned, everything is still going to plan with Origi’s signing with Milan. The slight delay will not affect the stance of the move.
Milan now boast the claim as the reigning Serie A champions. What’s impressive about this, however, is that they were able to do it without an “elite” striker. This is no disrespect to Oliver Giroud, who notched 11 goals, but he’s more of a veteran presence as opposed to a league’s leading scorer. Milan also had Zlatan Ibrahimovic, although injuries derailed his season. Milan’s top attacking threat is youngster Rafael Leao. The attacks looks lost without the Portuguese winger at times. For this reason, a new striking addition is definitely needed.
Origi fits the bill of what is needed. He doesn’t have a vast array of goals to his name during his Liverpool tenure. What he does have, however, is great experience and a knack for scoring very important goals. It’s not a knock on the player that time on the pitch was hard to come by in Liverpool’s crowded but elite attack.
Origi is just 27-years-old. He can very well be Milan’s starter next season, but will also split time with Giroud who he can learn from as well. Origi will also be inspired to play his best football due to the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup.
