Borussia Dortmund’s signing of Sebastien Haller is moving forward, according to Fabrizio Romano. Talks are in progress with Ajax about the final fee and add-ons, and there aren’t any issues on personal terms with the French-Ivorian striker. Dortmund’s initial bid of €33 million was not enough, but they’re still working on the signing.

Ajax Forward Set for German Move
While Dortmund are renowned for nurturing young talent, the club has seen some relatively recent signings of ‘older’ players, such as Axel Witsel in 2018 and the second coming of Mats Hummels in 2019. Still, at age 27, Sebastien Haller isn’t exactly about to retire.
Haller should be a superb addition for Dortmund, being the third-best goalscorer in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League despite his Ajax being eliminated as early as the round of 16. He also became the first player to score in seven consecutive matches in the history of the competition.
His Eredivisie record is splendid as well, having scored 21 goals in 31 matches last season. Dortmund’s signing is great and important, especially following the departure of their goal-machine Erling Haaland. Big boots to fill, but right now there’s little reason to believe Haller won’t be able to make a significant contribution.
Sebastien Haller Career
After making his professional debut for Auxerre, Haller departed to Dutch Utrecht, enjoying a great stint. The success garnered interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, who signed him in 2017.
Two years later, it was West Ham United‘s turn. Unfortunately, Haller’s time in the Premier League ended after less than two seasons, despite signing a five-year deal. However, maybe it was a blessing in disguise because joining Ajax enabled him to enjoy the most successful season of his career up until this point.
He will be aiming to enjoy an even greater one next season. It will be interesting to see what Haller can accomplish in his second stint in the Bundesliga.
