In an episode from the Athletic podcast Why Always Us? when asked about the Sterling to Chelsea rumours, Lee said: “Jesus and Sterling are both done.” He added: “The expectation is that Sterling is going to go”.

Chelsea found goals hard to come by at vital moments last season, especially from wide areas. Sterling would offer a consistent solution to this troublesome issue for the west London club. He brings exceptional acceleration and an eye for goal, which saw the England winger score 17 goals in 49 appearances, despite finding himself on the bench at important parts of the season.

Sterling would give Chelsea a winger who has a proven end product in the Premier League. The deal seemingly would benefit the player, as Tuchel is clearly prioritising a move for the Manchester City star, suggesting he would be given a starting role at Stamford Bridge.
