Sheffield United Announce the Signing of German Forward
Where Reda Khadra Will Fit In at Sheffield United
The main issue for Sheffield United last season in the run-in was the lack of a recognised striker. A number of key players, whether it be Rhian Brewster or Billy Sharp, were out injured and this was reflected in their failure to capture a playoff berth. A few players have then been let go this summer, with Oliver Burke and David McGoldrick joining other teams on a free whilst Lys Mousset is currently without a club.
Due to this, the reliance fell on Morgan Gibbs-White and Iliman Ndiaye to find the back of the net, despite not being outright forwards. The new arrival, Reda Khadra, somewhat fits into that mould too. Khadra is a 21-year-old winger, or second striker, and is effectively replacing Gibbs-White, with the Englishman returning to his parent club Wolves.
Paul Heckingbottom showed last term that Sheffield United can operate in either a one or a two striker system. It remains to be seen whether Khadra will play at the top of the field or if he and Ndiaye will be tasked with working in and around Brewster. Sander Berge pushed further forward than usual due to this attacking dearth and so Khadra’s arrival could allow the Norwegian to play his best position.

Khadra Came to the Fore With Blackburn Rovers Last Year
Reda Khadra is a name familiar to fans of the Championship due to his loan spell with Blackburn Rovers last year. It was an odd campaign under Tony Mowbray with Ben Brereton Diaz firing on all cylinders but the manager not being afforded a whole lot of breathing room. This is evident in Mowbray’s dismissal from Ewood Park.
Khadra contributed five goals and three assists before a calf injury ended his season in March. One of those goals for the former Borussia Dortmund youngster came against the Blades. He netted the equaliser in a turnaround 3-1 win on home soil. Sheffield United fans will be keen to see this form in front of goal turn on its head.
Sheffield United are in the mix for promotion with a number of teams at a very similar level. The loss of Gibbs-White was a huge one and so Khadra has big boots to fill. The thought of him thriving alongside Ndiaye and Brewster is a mouth-watering indeed though.
