With the Champions League round of sixteen draw in the book, the Europa League follows from Nyon, Switzerland. The final will take place in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, but the route to get there is very different to years gone by. The third-placed teams from the UCL will be taking part in this round and they will meet the UEL runners-up. Here is the run-down from today’s UEFA Europa League draw!
UEFA Europa League Draw
It Doesn’t Get Any Easier for Manchester United
Proceedings get underway with a big hitter in the form of FC Barcelona. Xavi’s side were overcome by Inter Milan and Bayern Munich in the Champions League draw and it won’t get any easier for them with Manchester United in their path. Erik ten Hag has often been touted as a future Nou Camp manager which makes it even more enticing, although his side are fresh off of a shocking defeat to Aston Villa.
Juventus are struggling massively under Max Allegri this season and so they could do with some success in this tournament. French side FC Nantes will meet the Bianconeri, one of their most dangerous players being tricky winger Moses Simon.

Sporting CP are the most regularly appearing team in the UEFA Europa League draw and the Portuguese giants are here once again. FC Midtjylland of Denmark are their opponents in the first knockout round.
Shakhtar Donetsk vs Stade Rennais emerged from the pot next and this is a hugely intriguing tie between two teams who love to cause an upset and boast a number of dangerous talents. The French side in particular are doing well with only Paris Saint-Germain and RC Lens ahead of them in the Ligue 1 table.
UEFA Europa League Draw Continues
Ajax are a stalwart in the annals of European football whilst their opponents are getting their first ever taste of the major competitions. Union Berlin have continued last year’s form in the Bundesliga and are flying high up in third.
Union Berlin may be doing well but they did just get embarrassed 5-0 by Bayer Leverkusen. Talking of Xabi Alonso’s side and they are also in this UEFA Europa League draw, with AS Monaco getting drawn alongside them.

PSV Eindhoven of the Netherlands have performed very well in this competition thus far, finishing second in their group behind Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. They could continue on their hot run as a troubled Sevilla side stand in their way.
Finally, the two last teams are RB Salzburg and AS Roma. Jose Mourinho is a beloved figure in this sport and will surely continue to bring his character to the table on the continent. The Austrian outfit have a lot of offer of their own and so this will definitely be a fixture worth keeping an eye on.
